Phil’s Story

Timid as a youth.  Uninterested in education.  Selfishly ambitious as a young adult.  These are not the ‘sign posts’ leading to a meaningful life filled with joy and purpose.  There were along the way experiences which gave me a glimpse at my need for a real relationship with the eternal God.

When far out at sea, the ship’s ‘collision alarm’ sounded in the middle of the night.  In the ensuing moments, I wrestled with my eternal destiny.  “What is going to happen to me when this ship goes down and I drown?”  I clearly recognized I had sinned many times against God, was in desperate need, and truly wanted to be ‘right with God.’

August of 1973 is when God brought me into right relationship with Himself, forgave me of my sins, and set my life on its current course – following Jesus Christ.  Now, I enjoy meeting people and eagerly pursue learning. I travel nation to nation teaching others.  The best in life is found in serving others.

Good News

God wants to bring you into right relationship with Himself and has made this possible through Jesus Christ.  You can have real life with eternal purpose.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

God is merciful

God has already made the way to bring you into relationship with Himself – setting you free from all burdens, restraints, and barriers.  God is tenderhearted toward you.  “…God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God sent Jesus to deliver or save us

Without God’s sovereign act of delivering us, you and I are bound to our efforts in this life.  We need God’s deliverance and life.  “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

Who Jesus is and what He did

Jesus Christ humbled Himself to suffer as the payment for our sins.  He has paid our total sin debt to God.  Therefore, we need to look wholeheartedly to Jesus as Savior.  “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God….”

Trust God’s Word and yield your life to Him

Those who believe God’s Word concerning Jesus and eternal life in Him will receive all God has promised.  You can take God’s Word for this.  Yield your life – all your days, your hopes, your pursuits, your future –  into God’s faithful hands.  He will do as He says.  The words of Jesus record, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”

Seek to know the LORD through: Bible, prayer, following Christ

Having trusted God, you will grow in your new life by seeking to know the LORD more intimately.  This comes by trusting God as you read the Bible, speak to Him in prayer, and follow Christ – obeying what He teaches you.  “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.”

Your Story

Like me, you have a ‘before Jesus’ story and now a ‘with Jesus’ story.  Begin telling others how real God is to you and what He has done for you.  You will be strengthened in this and others will hear the good news that transforms lives just like you and me.
